I finally took the plunge and got a kit for my 3-1/8" distributor. The directions say to change rotors, but I don't know why. I kept my old one. The directions seem to have been translated into English. Nice diagrams, though. Pretty simple. I was somewhat astonished at the magnet ring's poor looking "machining" to fit over the hex shaft, but it works, so I am happy. No timing adjustment needed, and I can tell it is firing just a bit better.
Now if I can figure out why it is still running rich, it will be in perfect running condition. I tried closing down the needle valve a bit, but no change that I can tell. Maybe the float needle is not quite right. It just doesn't feel like it has much power at full speed (50mph w/tall gear in rear). Pulling the choke a bit makes it worse, so that's why I think it is too rich. Any ideas would be appreciated.
