If the steel is in good shape, little to no rust, POR-15 is NOT the answer. It's built to adhere to rusted, pitted rough steel, not clean smooth steel. I know on my M's frame the are with the best condition steel, is where the POR-15 is coming off, even after having the frame sandblasted.

If you use POR, follow it's cleaning and prep procedure.
