I've seen many heads with the hole at the back of the head, but no "HEATER" lettering near it. If there's a pipe-threaded plug on top of the back of the head, that's where the "hot" heater hose goes. The pipe-threaded hole on the driver's side of the back of the head is for the temperature sender.
