Those are the easyest rims to change out the tire on i personanly liked them > all you had to do was deflate the tire tap with a tire hammer the thicker rim down about a 2 inches > then take a pry bar (most inner rings had a notch ) take off the thin ring > then just easily pry the outter or thick rim off lift the tire to you waist knock the rim through 5 10 minutes no matter how stuborn the tire or how long the it was on the rim > reasembly was a snap > now inflating was not so hot you had too watch both rims as you inflated > i never figured out why they called them safty rims as i have seen more of these blow a part than any other > a lot of guys me included would stand on the tire and tap the rings to seat while inflating hey it did say safty rims lol > these rims are just about as popular as the other type and most rim mani=ufactures offer both type of lock ring systems > i think these rims were common into the seventys and faded out with tubeless tire coming in to fashion most popular on hiway type applications and international medium duties at the time ~ Copey
