I had the same issue, but not nearly so many miles. The truck runs fine on the highway, and I needed to get it 45 miles to a shop for some work I want done. I've been looking for a decent 10K trailer to pick up for over a year now, but haven't found one yet. I have the same truck as you 'cept with the cummins. It'll pull fine.

I ended up posting on uship, just to get a bid on hauling the ffpw. By the time I would have driven my truck to where I was getting work done on it, added in the gas, gas for the following vehicle, renting a trailer, picking it up, renting straps if they didn't come with the trailer, it probably ran me 40 bucks extra to have a guy with 20K flatbed pick it up and deliver it for me. Add the time of chasing down the trailer & all that, & it was a pretty simple decision.

www.Uship.com. I'm still looking for a decent trailer, but this works well for a one shot trip. If you're in a city, try looking up something the the yellow pages under "antique auto". I found a trailer rental place there that had 10K's for rent. I also heard United Rents has 10K's as well, but I haven't checked that out. It just wasn't worth my time after I got the bid on Uship.
