Thanks to all for the input. What started this off was several spots on the Truck were showing minor rust damage (quarter size) and the wash rag would would always take off some paint. I went to Maaco for an estimate, and they said the following.

Oh, you have some rust, that will be extra
Oh, it's two-tone, that will be extra
Oh, thats a big truck, that will be extra
Oh, we need a ladder to work on it, extra
Oh, you want a clear coat, that will be extra
Oh, you want the wheels painted, that will be extra
you get the idea.
By the time they were finished, the $600 base price was up to $4500.

I am not looking for a trailer queen, I just want a good/cheap paint job. The truck sits out in the weather, so it does require appropriate protection.

At that point, I thought that I can drive down the price by doing a lot of the prep work myself. I am taking all the emblems off, repairing rust damage and dings, etc. I got a little DeWalt da sander, but it is very slow going with 80 grit sandpaper. I do have a Milwaukee brand 7" grinder with a wire wheel to expose the rust areas. I will drop by the local tool store tonight to see about some sort of paint stripping pad.

Since the grill and hub caps are the only items involving a different color, I will probably just rattle can some paint on.

As a secondary question, if you decided to use a paintbrush or roller for a paint job, why are you limited to rustoleum? Can't the better paints be applied using brushes or rollers?

Thanks
Lonnie
