I used a rotary air powered sander with fine grit paper[150 to start] and kept the sander moving quickly. Then went to 220 and then 440 grit. Came out smooth with no swirls. A light fast moving touch was the key for me. I primed with a good epoxy primer, sanded by hand and then topcoated.
