OK EGR valve could be stuck open. During those years they also have a fitting for EGR gases in the right side port under the carb in the intake manifold. I had a Truck one time that the fitting came lose and made a huge leak. You have to pull the carb off and look down the right port to check its right there. Also the intake passage for the cross over for the heat riser blocked up with junk and made the cold run poor. Also make sure the heat riser is working. Just some ideas. Good luck. Bill.
