Paul you're right just about anything can be fixed, or so I thought yesterday. To make a long story short yesterday I tried to fix the armature on one of the ailling motors on my motorized water sport chair. They are basically trolling motors mounted underneath two pontoons with a big webb chair on top. Well, The copper part where the brushes go was sorta chipped away in spots, and the motor had dead spots in it.I figured I could solder on a piece of copper pipe over the damaged area that was toast. So I carefully soldered a piece on trying not to melt everything. I then took my dremel tool and cut slots back into the armature, voila, sanded it a bit and re-asembled the motor to test. It worked pretty good but it had a small vibaration so I figure the armature needed to be turned a bit on my lathe to true it up. So, I chucked the it up and proceeded to carefully turn the armature then all of a sudden parts started flying and disaster, ruined. The epoxy stuff had apparentely got too hot during soldering and blew away, bummer I thought I had it, I was so proud of myself. Today, I went and bought a new trolling motor and hacked it off to get a new motor assembly. Took me a while to install it but works good. Moral of the story, somethings just can't be fixed no matter how much you try not to have to buy a new one.
