A quick Google search will reveal lots of information. I have had the wheels on my W300 and my W500 as well as a WDX, which I no longer own, powder coated by Les Schwab tires. The three sets of wheels have held up very well. My Buckstop bumper has held up very well, other than lots of rock chips because it is so hard. I had some tubular steps on a truck that had a type of powder coating that peeled. I think the solution is like others have said: preparation is number 1. I would recommend powder coating by a reputable company on wheels. Bumpers and running boards are subject to rock chipping, and powder coating is almost impossible to touch up.
