Best procedure here is to simplify it as much as possible. You've done one step by verifying that there's no spark coming out of the coil. That means you don't have to wonder if it's the distributor, the plug wires, the plugs, or the timing that's wrong. Now simplify the other end by running a wire straight from the coil to the battery. Now the primary circuit will consist of the following: wire from battery to coil. Wire from coil to points, ground via the points.

Find a position of the rotor where the points are closed. If you leave it that way for a long time, the coil will get hot, so don't walk away with it like that. Open and close the points manually by hand or with a small screwdriver, being careful not to short them out. Hold the coil wire about a quarter inch from a ground. Each time the points open, a spark should jump from the end of the coil wire. If this happens, then crank the engine and see if it happens while cranking. If it doesn't happen, look for other problems like bad connections, points not closing all the way, bad coil, etc.

The main thing with anything electrical is, rather than shotgunning it (randomly replacing things until it works), simplify it as much as possible and/or break it into minimal-sized subsystems until you find out which subsystem (in this case, the coil/points circuit) has the problem.
