Not a clue about Winchesters (apart from Mike that is) but I can think of a few examples where something was made in a hurry and worked so well it was around for years.

The humble army MB / GPW jeep was a good product from day one, and so was the DUKW - they knocked up the DUKW prototype in a month. Both are still in use despite being well over half a century old.

Dodges took a little bit more tinkering, and weren't really sorted until the 3/4 ton WC came along. i love my little 1/2 ton Vc dearly, but you should see the state both my VC chassis were in because of overuse - I think the 3/4 ton would take a lot more breaking.

Want to bet a lot of these Dodges will still be usable when they are a hundred ? as long as we have a hydrocarbon fuel for them.
