Your book is most likely correct,but as what? As I've said in the past,My 64'WM300 w/o winch & w/o PU bed or rear bumper or gas tank weighed in at 4580lbs. on state certified scales.A earlier PW with 230 engine weighs slightly less.Most people disregard the fact that their trucks sport extra metal in the form of bumpers ,brackets,and plates that add up rather fast.I figure the average weight of a WDX -WM300 w/o winch or PU bed or rear bumper is 4600lbs,then add the weight of a winch w/full spool and hook(whatever that is) and or the weight of weight of the PU bed(whatever that is)and or a bumper.Someone give the winch weight and PU bed weight and we'll have the "curb weight" of tha average PU PW w/winch.
