Go in between and use an oil saturated element(not paper saturated with oil). K&N's are common, they use cotton element that is oiled. They are effective at filtering and better yet, they flow much more than paper, and actually GET BETTER as they get dirtier! I'm serious, David Vizard did dyno tests with different types of filters clean and dirty and no filter at all, and the best filter for power was a DIRTY K&N! It rivalled no filter with the carb pan in place, and the dirty K&N was actually better than no filter with no carb pan.
There are also the oiled foam type(the type that you find on dirtbikes), absolutely the best for filtering out the dirt, but they are messy to maintain.
