If all your looking for is driveline parts, and he (the other guy) was going to restore it, I'd opt to allow him to get it (as it's NOT what your seeking....)
Now if he opts to repower it or such, ask him to sell (give) you the old driveline parts. This way you both end up with what you want.
I'm too simple. Guess greed always wins, buy it and then sell it for what you want..
