The "LA Locker" is now called a LockRight. They are alive and strong; they advertise in virtually every 4WD magazine published. The part # for PWs and M37s (and 3/4 ton WCs with 1.375" axles shafts) is 1210. The work well, are pretty "transparent" (free of obious bad side effects), and relatively cheap ($230-250). I have them in both ends of my M37 but for front installation I'd advise some sort of power steering. As far as I know, there is no LSD available for that diff. There were about 500 early Detroit Lockers built in 43-44 for installation in one of the two rear axles of the WC62-63 for use in Europe (Italy in particular), but the blueprints were lost in a fire years ago and some sort of collector if he has some of them ain't talking about it. The installation of the 1210 Lockright is more complex than other Lockrights because of the design of the Dodge differential carrier case and is not recommended for those who don't know what they're doing; i.e. pay some one to do it if you don't know how and don't have a "friend". I live in a location where streets and roads are icy ~6-7 months a year and am happy with the handling in 2WD and 4WD.
