On the engines I found, the numbers are stamped on a large metal tag (about3" x 8"long) attached to the lower side of the block just above the oil pan rail. It says Chrysler Industrial Engine and lists the type/model, series, and serial # below. I have also found a few "Factory" rebuilds with a 3" dia. tag, closer to the front of the engine, which give the undersise/oversise specs and date of the rebuild. I believe the factory rebuilts were available from the Massey dealers at the time. Out here in Saskatchewan, there are a LOT of engines to be found in old farm equipment, and the prices are fairly low as the machines they are in are very obsolete, and not usually of a "collectable" nature. Both the Long (Canadian) and Short (U.S.) engines seem to be available, and look as though there were many "swaps" done over the years. The local rebuilder was able to identify the engine size from the model #, and yours should be able to do the same. Another idea might be to check with various equipment dealers, in hopes that there may be a few NOS "combine" engines sitting around in the parts system somewhere. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to find a Desoto Hemi engine that had been rebuilt, and sat in the parts department, sealed up, for 20+ years ....so you never know... Happy Hunting J.V.L.
