Sounds like "shortage mentality" to me -- "any dollar you make is a dollar that would have been mine." There's a lot of that in my small town. Seems to me that increasing the number of potential customers is better for business than trying to grab everything you can out of a few customers, but others disagree. Seems to me that a bigger rally would be better for everyone, and since buy/sell/trade is a big part of a rally, having it wide open is sure to attract a whole lot more people, some of whom will end up buying stuff from the sponsor. Otherwise it would be like going to a gun show where only Cabelas was allowed to actually sell guns.
But I suppose the other way of looking at is like if you had a store, you wouldn't want other people coming in and selling their stuff inside your store.
