U joints

Today I finished painting my transfer case, and got ready to install the driveshafts.

When I installed the u joints, they seem to be very tight when pivoting, only the ones at the end of the driveshafts. The ones in the yokes are fine. The difference being the yoke ones are brand new from Steve Fowler, the drivesahft ones are NOS from AB Lynn.

The latter had the cosmoline on them and cork seals. It seems the cork swelled and wont allow the cups to slide in the driveshafts enough to allow the clips to slide in the channels.

Would it be ok to remove the cork and just let the cups slide in farther? If not, Im kinda thinkin I might hafta get new u joints?
