It was a great time. I had forgotten I made another one with DAWG in my '88 Commanche after that. Round trip to OH for a pig roast/get together with some of my military buds. It was a bit longer trip. DAWG was a great hit (Shepherd) with the ladies. They spoiled her. When the guy got done roasting the pig he asked if it was OK to give her a bit of fat. I said OK and he gave her a big ole bone with it. When she would get a goodie like that I would take it from her for a bit and make her wait for it. I never wanted her to be mean and wanted her to be patient which she was. Except for this time. She saw me coming and took off running with the bone sticking out both sides of her mouth. She ran around the roasting wagon and I went around the other way and caught her. She was pretty sheepish. All of us got a great laugh out of it. The only argument we had was on the way there as I was making the turn on a freeway on ramp. She was in the back with her head stuck through the pass through. She decides she needs to be up with me just as I am making the turn on the ramp. She only made it halfway through and was stuck on my shoulder. I could barely steer as I was yelling at her to get back in the bed. She didn't take that well and turned her back to me and stared out the back for about an hour. =) It was pretty funny after I nearly ran off the road. Unfortunately had to put her down a few years ago becuase of a tumor in her chest that took the life out of her. We have a Lab and another Shepherd now but she was pretty special.

I plan to make another trip this summer. I will fly to Austin, TX and drive with my military bud to Columbus, Ga for our reunion. Probably take a rental car for that. We made trip several years ago from Austin, to Santa Fe, NM for the first showing of the documentary of our return trip to VN in '01. That was fun also. I like traveling that way. My wife is probably going to quit her job in the next couple years and she say she isn't getting another one so I suppose we will do some traveling then.
