I think I'd start inside the bed. Get practiced up on the less-visible parts.

DO NOT 'hand sand'. Use a block. Hand sanding tends to leave finger marks, washboards of where your fingers were. Especially around things like lock bezels and door handles. Oh, you might think it's only a couple thousandths of an inch, but paint won't hide NOTHIN.

A good job is all in the prep work- sand, prime so you can block sand and find more defects, prime and sand again.

Paint thinner is an excellent solvent for wet sanding between coats. Won't mel laquers, or dried paint.

Thin it, but not so thin that it needs six coats. Two ought to do. Two is plenty for a sprayed finish, and you won't need to thin it as far. Thin enough so the brush marks flow out. Then, don't apply so heavy that it runs on the vertical surfaces.

Get the correct hardener, which might not be Japan drier. Don't put in too much- I just did that to linseed oil on a caned chair. It ain't evvver going to harden, I think I'll try washing it off with paint thinner.

Post some pics!
