New timers way,
use a compression
tester and write
down your readings
dry, then add the squirt
of oil and write
down the
readings. Note the
difference. if
it improves with the
oil, your rings are
worn. If it is low and
no change with
the oil it is valves.
There is a reason why
they invented
compresson gauges, an
inexpensive tool and way
more accurate than a thumb.
