1951 was when the change took place between the old and new style fuel sending unit and guage. The old required two wires. The new required one. You have a reproduction of the older wiring harness and a spare wire you will not be using.

You might be able to modify the harness from the rear axle rearward and use this additional wire if you plan to put turn signals on your truck.
