I had it loaned to a "living museum". I got a call to come help- they had really screwed it up. Won't move, starts, let out clutch and it kills it. The even tried to tow it, which made the driver's side rear wheel turn BACKWARDS.

I went out there in disbelief. Sure enough, starts fine, let out clutch it died. Tow it, sure enough, they were right about the wheel spinning backwards. After some cogitating, and checking everything, I finally noticed that the home made handle on the PTO was engaged, and so was the clutch on the winch. Cable totally bound up. Couldn't shift either handle, really jammed up tight. So. towed it in reverse just a few feet to un-wind the tension on the drivetrain, and could shift the pto as well as the winch to neutral.

It didn't occur to me until this thread that the shear pin should have let go. But then, nothing else broke, so I can't say the pin should have gone 'before'. It was just a matter of ignoranuses not knowing not to engage all that stuff.

It was an MU-5 winch taht I had shoe-horned into the rails of a '41 CC. 1/2 cable. But no harm to the drivetrain.
