750,000 lbs of residue trucks being sold by the government and all the scrap now has to be "mutilated". Take a look at the pictures and you can see there are tons of good parts. Actually, thousands of tons of good parts, but it all has to be crushed.
In a rational country, the scrap guy would slip a little baksheesh to the government mutilation observer and haul the good stuff off the base with a thin layer of "scrap" on top of it. Or in an even more rational country, the government would sell the residue trucks without any restrictions on salvaging parts off of them and would recoup at least 10 times as much of the taxpayers' money as they get selling them for scrap.
