Turned the distributor shaft 180 degrees and it started right up. What's weird is that the shaft has an offset tang, and yet it goes into the oil pump no matter which way it's turned. I'm thinking that means I have a civilian oil pump, and the slot on the civilian pump is wide enough to take the military distributor shaft in either position. Anyone here know if that's the case? Now I'm onto all the other things. It's nice to finally have a warm day to work on my truck.
