Like some of the other users who have weighed in on this question, I am a professional arborist with chainsaw experience dating all the way back to the hey days of the Power Wagon when Homelite or McCullough were THE brands like Ford and Chevy. These days, I agree with the assessment that Husky, Stihl and Jonsereds are among the best. Shindaiwa also makes a pretty good saw, but as on poster noted, not all saws in a single brands stable are equal in peformance or reliablility. What I have always told professional arborists when asked THE question, I always tell them to buy the dealer, not the saw. If you make your living with a chainsaw it is the dealer
that counts when the saw goes down. ONe thing that's kinda interesting: Husky owns Jonsereds and Poulan as well as being in business over 350 some years, they started out making firearms and now they make motorcycles, all kinds of outdoor power equipment and Electrolux vacuum cleaners.
