I have read all the posts on this topic so far and have to laugh (not at you, just the stories about whos saw is better). First let me say something. I am retired Forest Service. My job for many years was a Timber Sale Administrator on logging operations. Where I observed professional loggers on a daily basis cut trees. I also was in charge of the regional chainsaw certification program for all firefighters in my region. With that said, I spent the last 30+ years observing or operating saws. The Major saw manufacturers have a great product if you keep it simple ie. avoid all the fancy bells and whistles. For every bad story about a brand, I can find a good one about that same saw. As for the knarly wood cutter, I used to hear the loggers arguing in the woods about whos saw was better. For the most part the major ones are Stihl, Husky, Jonsered. If you use a saw more than an occasional time, stay with these. The secondary market saws are good on an occasional basis. Most Important - Match the saw to the job!
