I just bought a smaller Stihl - 250, we have an 029 farm boss (290 now) that's been great but I wanted a smaller saw. Looked at both Husky and Stihl, was in tractor supply on a late saturday because the Stihl dealer was closed. While looking at a husky, an old knarly wood cutter walked by with an armload of chain saw parts and said the Husky was junk. I said thanks, but why do you say that? He said the new ones aren't running good, won't idle, start, suck gas etc. He friends weren't too happy. He uses Poulan. So I go home. Talking to a friend that night about saws, before I told him the knarly woodcutter story, he said he just bought a husky. I said great, how it run? He said it's not, it's in the shop, won't start, idle and sucks gas. Shop calls him and says we have to get a new carb, so it will be a few days. That's all I needed to hear. They have these new "green" low emission saws that I guess have some bugs. So my Stihl is twice as light and cuts twice as fast as the same size 46cc craftsman (Poulan) that seized up the other day, although I beat that saw for about 8-9 years, so it didn't owe me anything. BTW, it was the first time I ran Amsoil in that saw so I wonder if that had anything to do with it? Don't bother with the Stihl easy start or toolless chain adjuster, more money, more things to break, and takes too long to wind up before a spring loaded start. I guess thats my $.10.
