Your NP200 transfer case is the same as found on a WDX model. My W Series Approved Lubrication Guide, WDX owner's manual, W Series shop manual, and the 1948 Kendall Lubrication Guide all list 3-pints needed to fill the transfer case. The W-series shop manual goes one step further in detail. It says to fill the transfer case to 1/2" below the filler plug hole.
Case closed? Not quite.
The 1965 Dodge Truck Technical Service Manual says the transfer case on a WM300 (your truck) requires 5-pints to fill. This compares to what they list for the NP201 case used on the 1/2 and 3/4-ton trucks - 4.5 pints. The NP200 and NP201 are physically similar.
If you don't think 3 pints is filling the case enough, I would go with the instructions in the W Series Shop Manual that say to fill to 1/2" below the fill plug. If you can stick your finger in and touch lubricant, you have enough. Better safe than sorry.
