For 3.3 & 3.8L engines look on the rear face of the cylinder block just below the LH cylinder head(front on FWD vehicles). There is a raw machined area (no paint) just above the transmission bell housing where the identification number is laser etched before final vehicle assembly. Look for the small numbers (probably only 5/16” tall) the larger numbers that touch or are partially obscured by the bellhousing are for plant internal use. Break down of sequence is: X(last digit of year), X(S for Saltillo Mexico, T for Trenton MI), XXXXX (various usage such as car/truck lines), XXXX (month/day/year), XXXXXXXX (last eight digits of vehicles VIN#). This laser etched number can be hard to read sometimes due to surface rust but usually can be revealed with a Scotch Brite pad.
