I have a 2004.5 3500 srw 4x4 with auto and 4.10 gears. I frequently tow 10,000 - 12,000 lbs with no issues. I've upgraded to an EDZE EZ module with Banks ram air intake, which makes the 5.9L comparable to the new 6.7L in power and performance, less the exhaust brake. I sacrifice a little fuel mileage for the 4.10 gears, but they are great for low end and getting a load up to speed faster. I went to Edmunds.com and determined the options I wanted when I purchased the truck new. I then went to the Dodge site and searched trucks with similar options. I found one on it's way to a Lithia Dodge dealer in Klamath Falls, Or. I then went to the local Lithia Dodge dealer in Renton, Wa and offered them $200 over the dealer cost on the edmunds.com site. The dealer intercepted the truck in route, an re-routed to Renton, Wa as a dealer trade. In this case it didn't cost me any extra shipping, but I imagine a dealer trade transport could. I still got all the incentives Dodge was advertising at the time. By far the best truck I've ever owned.
