Vehicle Description

This is the truck that every Dodge collector dreams about finding. This has to be one of the cleanest, nicest, and straightest power wagons I have ever seen (and Ive seen hundreds).

This truck must have been a cal-trans truck or something, and stored in one of their big wherehouses. That is the only way I can figure this truck has remained so outstanding.

I purchased it from what I believe to be the second owner, who got it from a california state auction. When he got it, it was outfitted with the original push button auto/loadflight trans option(that is almost unheard of with 4x4's, that makes this truck even more rare), a 315 v8. He couldnt get parts for the 315, and the idea of no Park setting with the pushbutton scared him. So out it came(I know, I know, you could just cry) anyway, he carefully removed the transfer case, loadflight trans, and the 315, and dropped in the 440 and 727 that is there now. Thankfully none of the crossmembers for the original drive train were butchered. The truck runs and drives smoothly, and would be an easy canidate to swap back in thre original drive train(which I dont have, but have access to a 58 parts truck with complete 315 w/ original running gear 4x4 parts from axles to transfer case, radiator, etc etc, all numbers matching with all attaching hardware COMPLETE). The body has no bondo, an I belive this to be the original OMAHA Orange paint. I have been all over this truck, and there is ZERO rust, except for 2 micro small spots I have shown in the pics(they are so minor, its almost not worth mentioning, but I want to be picky about this. The body is absolutlety imacculate except for a very soft, non creased bend in the lower passenger side front fender. (you cant even notice it unless I tell you about it). The doors have 2 matching speaker holes in the flat open area on the door(easy to fix, flatmetal, no body contours there), the door latches are immaculate, almost NO wear. The tail gate looks like its almost NOS, its unbelievable. The running boards are like NOS, heck, even the bed wood and rails look like they never had a thing put on them. The chrome trim and stainless are SUPERIOR/PERFECT I sent out the hood trim and had it repolished, and the 100 badges re-chromed, everything else just needed a polish, no dents or dings in any of the trim. All the glass is there, none is broken, all side glass rolls up and down smoothly. Gauges and trim plates on the inside are Beautiful and original. Factory side mirrors are original and undamaged, actually they are perfect. Front grill and bumpers are Superior/perfect, as are the inner splash fender wells, the battery tray is even nice. Even some guy like me from california who is used to clean rust free stuff, has to say WOW at how nice this truck is. I know I mentioned this truck is rare, let me expalin why. In 1958, the entire auto industry switched to Dual Headlights, for the period of 1-2 months into 1958 dodge made some(not all, you could special order duals) single headlight 58 trucks, they were spread throughout all models of 2 wheel 4 wheel and big hauler trucks. After about 2 months, they phased out the single headlight for good. This means production for these models is less than 1/4 of one year....Yikes!! Now take in to consideration this is the most desirable Short bed model, and its a factory 4x4, AND it came equipped with the pushbutton auto trans option(almost unheard of on 4x4's, as you know most were 4 speeds w/ a granny low gear), AND it is a factory 315 v8 truck, AND it has rare options like the spare tire carrier that mounts INSIDE the bed (I've never even seen one until I got this truck, ultra rare option) dual side mirrors that are still on the truck, dual inside visors, factory heater, 4:10 gears, big back window option. If your a true Power Giant collector, your salivating the same way I did when I got this truck. The single headlight 58 trucks are the RAREST. Period. If your going to put money into a Power Wagon, Start with one that has a clean straight body, and no missing trim etc. You can drive this one around town and park it in front of your house with a smile, because when its clean and polished, it looks realy nice.

All 4 17.5 original Budd wheels have been sand blasted and powder coated to perfection. 4 new 17.5x8 denman all terrains are on the truck. Rear axle has been gone through/rebuilt. Headlights, brake lights, turnsignals, all work nicely. I know I am forgetting something or other, but this is a dream truck for a Collector or someone wanting to get into the hobby, and start with a truck that will make the experts drool and ask...."how much?" Front and rear axled are original and in great condition, and hold alignment perfectly. New exhaust system also, brakes have been gone through, stops very well. You get the picture, feel free to ask any questions, I am an expert on 1957-58 power giant era power wagons, and one of the best sources for parts in the country, and of course, I will help you source any parts you need after your the proud new owner, I want to see this truck finished.

Good luck Bidders
