Solex Carb?

Was reading through some old Power Wagon Advertisers and came accross a recommendation to install a Solex carb from a Land Rover. Anyone familiar with these? What's the advantage.

Don Bunn's book recommends installing a later Dodge truck carb with vacuum advance.
