Burien's on top of the hill, but that's only 400' elevation, basically the same as Sea-Tac airport. Our house was at about 300'. It always snowed less in Des Moines, which is right down at the water. In 1968 we had 2' of snow and Lake Burien froze hard enough that somebody drove a motorcycle out to the middle of the lake and parked it. I always wondered if they got it back or it's on the bottom.

It was those March and April snows that busted all the trees, though, because the snow was wet and the trees were budding out. It never lasted more than a day or two. I hope your snow is heading our way, because right now, even though the weather radar says we're getting dumped on with snow, it's just a sloppy drizzly mess outside today. If it was like this on the coast, it would be perfect steelhead weather -- 35 degrees and raining, with slush on the ground.
