I'm in the process of a wideblock rebuild.
Parts are not impossible, but not readily available. I wish I could find parts for some of the numbers quoted here.
My first set of pistons (India) had one piston looking perfect, but 8 grams light and was rejected. Beware 'truck' low compression pistons.
Lots of LA parts fit; trick is to know which ones.
Heads need hardened seats. Valve guides not replaceable; may need bushed ($$).
Join the Yahoo 318 wideblock list and hook up with Gary. If you can get one for 50 - 200, grab it for parts. A good unit for $450 is a steal. Free delivery is a plus; these are stones.
The hop-up book on eBay is a rip-off.
