Thanks for that link. I can see now that Marson is just one tiny part of a big multi-national conglomerate. The lady who was going to call me back today never did, so now I have to write a paper letter to the head of that company detailing my problem. It's a big pain hassle for me to do all this, which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place, but at this point, they've pissed me of and I'm going to at least make sure it costs them something to read and ignore my letter.

Which of us would do business like that? Nobody would. If you shipped somebody something and some small, inexpensive, but unique part was missing, you'd just send them another one, no questions asked. But Marson has "policies" and "procedures". Well, somewhere at the top of the corporate bureaucracy there has to be a man who wrote the policies and and procedures, and he's going to be getting a letter from me.

As for the quality of Chinese stuff, from what I've seen they can make tools that are every bit as good as anyone else's. They've sent a man into space and back and a rocket to the moon, so they're no slouches about precision tooling. It's just that their factories will build whatever their customers want and if the customers want "cheap", that's what they build. So, the only remaining reason to buy an American tool from an American company is that they'll stand behind their products, I can call them up and talk to a real person who speaks English, and they'll do the right thing in terms of supporting their products. "Alcoa Fastening Systems" obviously doesn't get that, and when some foreign knockoff comes along and starts stealing their business, they sure won't have any sympathy from me.
