I bought a new '03 2500 Quad cab CTD with short box and drove it for 73000, then sold it to my son who has now 145,000 on the truck. I bought the same truck in '06 and have nearly 67000 on it. There are things I prefer about the '03. I liked the six speed better than the new model in my '06. Mileage has been very satisfactory in both. I pull a 21' boat with a 225 hp Yamaha outboard as well as a lumber trailer, often loaded with 10-12000#s. Single rear wheels are no problem. Running gear and frame are identical between 2500 and 3500. A couple of leafs are added to the rear of the 3500. And clearance lights on the cab. That's about it.
You should be able to find a very good deal on a low mile '03 right now. Good hunting. JH
