I second the notion. I have cable Internet and I still appreciate Joe's 1950s-vintage forum software.
You can't even read an on-line newspaper these days without having to run some elaborate Java/Flash/AVI/RealPlayer/QuickTime/MacroGarbage plugin just to see the pictures. Half the time it doesn't work, and keeps demanding that you install it, even though you already did. If by some quirk it does work, you find out that all you get for your trouble is some trendy-looking typefaces that can only be read by the eyes of 20-year-olds, and pictures that fade in and out and move around on the screen for some unfathomable artistic purpose.
