junior - i did not mean to set you off - not my intent at all. i stated and meant no offense that some guys like what they like and like the way things were originally designed. i love old iron but was born after the points era. i have little experience setting them up and don't have a love or hate for them. i do come from a family business that derived revenue from reliable equipment. our company shop was an early adopter of the breakerless ignition and it provided real benefit and reduced breakdowns. some guys cling to 'old' technology because they have used it forever with acceptable or good results. some people are tinkerers and will take a good running truck and 'improve' it into an unreliable machine. some people see an improvement and try to incorporate it into their trucks to ensure they can get to the show. i do not have a vehicle on par with yours in the accessory or pure 'as used' or as delivered condition that you have. i don't have a need for the accessories you have amassed, but that doesn't mean that i dont appreciate the fact that your pw is likely the most loaded pw in our circle. plows, ptos, winches and rear attachments are bling to a pw owner.

with regards to the petronix - as per my experience with them, it will improve starting, idling, throttle response and service intervals. if those improvements are worth the price is a personal decision. you can buy selectros @ 300, steve fowlers repro warns for 800 or superwinch hubs for 90.00. they all do the same thing for a guy going for a ride. however, a purist wants orig and a user wants the strongest part out there. its what makes horse races. norm prefers the mopar ignition upgrade to the petronix and points and some dodgers prefer diesels to gas. if we all had red pws in stock form there would be no need to go to iowa!
