If you haven't changed the generator, and it was positive ground the last time you used it, you don't need to do anything. Electromechanical regulators don't have polarity. Electronic ones are made one way or the other and can't be changed. It's only the generator itself that gets polarized, which simply means making sure the residual magnetism in the iron is in the right direction so it'll start out making the right kind of electricity.
