I know, hardly anyone agrees with me, which is why we still have Prohibition in this country.

I don't have kids of my own, but I can tell you one thing for sure -- if I did, I wouldn't rely on the government to raise them. There'd be a whole lot of perfectly legal things I wouldn't let them do, and I wouldn't blame some lack of laws if they went and did stupid things that I told them not to do. After all, if they won't obey their old man, why should they care about a law?

Most of the doper kids have doper or alcoholic parents, or no parents at all that are worth anything. Most of the time the father's nowhere to be found (or if he is, he's sitting in his own cloud of pot smoke or surrounded by beer cans), and the mother's zonked out on booze or percocet or something, or is still out partying like she's 20 even though she's 40.

I just don't think laws do much to reduce dope use, while they definitely drive the dopers to stealing. It's not like we'd all suddenly go become junkies if they legalized heroin. Most people have no interest in that garbage, and wouldn't do it if it was free. But the people who are hooked on it, stay hooked until they're either dead or they get in such bad shape that their friends or family convince them to get straight. I've met a few ex-addicts who are clean and sober now, but not one of them said they did it because the dope was illegal. They did it because they didn't want to be addicts any more.
