I'll be mounting mine inside the cab, so weather is not going to be a prob. I may even use the ripped boot, If I can't find one. I came up with a plan, as I slept on the dilemma last night. Lumpy damn dilemma, kept me tossing and turning.
Anyhow, my plan is to use two knuckles. One u-joint at the gear, and 6-8 inches higher, the bell joint under the dash. I'll need to build a support for the lower end of the column, no biggie. That system will allow me to have the column on straight, leaving more room for my big ole right knee under the wheel. Plus have the flex of the bell joint, and gain a bit of room for my size 13 clutch foot.
