It is best not to sand blast a body. I am referring to typical industrial sand blasting. Take it to a shop that specializes in auto body blasting. YOu have to be careful not to warp the body panels.
I have them use a mixture of garnet sand and walnut. The garnet is what removes the heavey stuff and provides the cutting media. The walnut provides an cushion so that the garnet is not too agressive. It comes out very nicely.
If you do not have any rust you can use a plastic media. It will remove all the paint and nothing else. You can even leave the glass and rubber on and it will not hurt them. Clean them yes but nothing else. You must lightly sand afterwards to remove any plastic that me be left.
For small parts that I do myself in a friend's blasting cabinet I use garnet.
