Tim, I seem to remember when I put the Pertronix in my Chevy truck, it wouldn't start at firts either. I monkeyed around with the timing and got it to run . You'll be happy when you get things working, I've put them in many vehicles and never had a problem. All it does is replace the points, keeping the dwell constant.
