On some engines, you can drop the pan a couple inches, then unbolt the pick-up from the block and let it drop into the pan, then remove pan more easily.

To re-install, you'll have to wire the pick-up to the side of the pan so you can pull it into position after the pan is within range of the block. Try not to drop any screws. Big drain hole perhaps?

Or maybe dropping the tranny would be easier than pulling the engine?

And/or, loosen the fan shroud, and motor mounts, and jack up the engine, put blocking under the mounts, to get more room for dropping the pan?
