It's time to rely upon personal responsibility and self reliance.
I don't like the fact that as soon as it snows in CA, every mountain road is gated off "for our own protection". I also do not like the FEMA mentality or the expectation that if one does something stupid in the backcountry the victim expects some agency to bail them out and rescue them.
At one point in our past existence, nature took care of the thinning of the gene pool....
Build your home in an area prone to fire, be prepared to fight it yourself.
Go off road, be prepared for breakdowns and spending the night.
Cross Country Skier, make plans for an over night stay.
Too dumb to think of any of the above....too bad....but not the State's problem.
