I just wanted to update you guys if anyone cares, and if you live in California, you should.

We have recently been told that ALL public safety, this includes CAL FIRE, CHP and CALTRANS is NOT EXEMPT from the pay cuts and furlogh days. What this means to you as a citizen of the wonderful state of Kalifornia, is that you will not be as protected as you think you are.

CHP had their court date yesterday and they lost their appeal, they will be furloghed, meaning a day off without pay, and no overtime behind the person off. SAme for CAL FIRE and CALTRANS. Imagine a day with no CHP officers to come to your accident, no CAL FIRE to respond to your medical aid and no CALTRANS to clean up the mess and open the highway back up. Its a definate possibility. Our, CAL FIRE, court date is next Thursday. And so far it sounds like we may not win either.

Now sure there is a chance we may. But what we are asking, is that all citizens of California, call, email and send letters to Sacramento informing the government that as a tax paying citizen, you do not appreciate having public safety services cut. We feel this could make a difference and not affect your safety.

For everyone, I have attached a link to our Union webiste and a video the union just made to get us out there and explain what we do. THis is a pretty cool video, as the third largest fire dept in th nation and the largest all risk department in the nation, we run over 350,000 call in the state a year.

Watch the video, its pretty cool, everything in it is CAL FIRE

Thanks for letting me rant
