Here in North Idaho we are likely to have snow and/or ice on our roads from November 1 to March or even the end of April. It amazes me at how ignorant people are about driving in these conditions. It makes me wonder why, after dealing with the roads for one winter, many of them don't either stay home or leave for the winter. When I first moved here in 1971, I had one of about 20 four wheel drive vehicles. All the locals either put chains on the rear of the pickup or they stayed home. Now we have four wheel drive, front wheel drive, all wheel drive, and 50 times as many people. We need "red" and "black" condition enforcement here for about half of the year. In many cases common sense just doesn't exist.
