I did not watch the inauguration. I am not real happy either, as my candidate did not win. Mine did not even make it past the Primary. Chalk up another one to what I see as an imperfect system where I was once again left to choose between the lesser of two evils.

So, even though I may not agree with his agendas, or his way of thinking, nevertheless I have chosen to support my President while he is in office. I will bide my time and do what I legally can to assure that the next election provides choices more to my liking. I may not revel in the fact that we elected him, but we did, through the tangled process that we employ, albeit not a perfect one, but one that I feel is the best in the world. How else could I gain respect from the rest of the world if I were unwilling to respect my own?

To those who would point fingers and resort to name calling, I say: I can understand the racial tensions. I do not condone them, but can understand them to the point that they seem to be a part of human nature. Also to the tensions arising from the differences in faith, again I do not condone them but I can understand them. They too seem to be bread into us. Apparently these two issues have always been with us and unfortunately probably always will.

There are things that really bother me though. Those are the attacks upon someone that arise simply because they think differently than you or I. I welcome ideas from outside of my own box. They challenge me but I do not feel threatened by them. They help me think for myself and, more often than not, they reinforce my original view of the issues. I feel more comfortable in the thought that I am correct after I have heard all the arguments against my stand. I now have the knowledge that I am not just simply following along with the flock. I have digested the information and made my own decisions.

Imagine if you will, if we had only one political party. How much easier it would be. Everyone would be right and we would not have to listen to ideas and put up with change from "the other side". We wouldn’t even have a real need for elections. Those "guys" all agree and all have our best interest at heart, so let them decide......

I think some countries have tried that. I think it is called Dictatorship.
